PTDS MOM™ · DANCE BULLY AWARENESS

No room for bullying on the dance floor.

Every dancer deserves to feel safe, respected, and included. Together, we can make kindness part of dance culture—in the studio, backstage, and online.

Dancer in a hot pink circle — Dance Bully Awareness

PTDS MOM™

NOTICE WHO IS LEFT OUT.   INVITE THEM IN.   SPEAK UP.

WHY THIS CAMPAIGN EXISTS

Room for every dancer.

Dance should be a place to grow in confidence, creativity, and connection. PTDS Mom™ created this campaign to open conversations about bullying and turn awareness into everyday acts of inclusion.

This message is for dancers, parents, teachers, studio owners, and everyone cheering from the sidelines. Talent and kindness belong on the same dance floor.

Has your dancer been bullied?

A conversation can begin with one question: “How do people make you feel at dance?” Give your dancer space to answer.

A mother’s heart feels it, too.

Watching your dancer feel left out can hurt. Your steady presence can help them feel heard and supported.

Talent never excuses cruelty.

Strong technique and high scores should go hand in hand with respect. Every dancer deserves dignity.

FOR PARENTS & CAREGIVERS

If your dancer is being bullied, start here.

Listen first.

Let your dancer explain what happened. Reassure them that bullying is not their fault and that you will help.

Keep a clear record.

Write down incidents and dates. Save relevant messages or screenshots, and report online abuse through the platform.

Work with an adult.

Speak privately with a teacher or studio leader. Ask for concrete steps to protect your dancer and a time to check back.

Ask your dancer which adult they trust at the studio. Keep checking in. If they are struggling, a counselor or other qualified professional can provide additional support.

FOR DANCERS & TEAMMATES

Kindness is something we do.

  • Invite someone who is sitting alone to join you.
  • Encourage a teammate without comparing dancers.
  • Skip the gossip and stop passing hurtful messages along.
  • If you see bullying, get help from a trusted adult.
  • Tell the dancer who was targeted: “You belong here.”

FOR STUDIOS & INSTRUCTORS

Make respect part of the culture.

Set clear expectations, give families a private way to raise concerns, respond consistently, and check whether the behavior has stopped.

“We make room for every dancer. We respond to bullying. We lead with respect.”

A commitment your studio can put into practice.

WEAR THE MESSAGE

A shirt that starts a conversation.

Our Dance Bully Awareness design pairs a bold message on the front with Bethany’s approved dancer logo and PTDS Mom™ branding on the back.

KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING

Questions worth asking.

Does a dancer need to buy a shirt to take part?

No. Include a teammate, speak up, share the message, or start a conversation. Everyone can participate.

What if my dancer is afraid to talk about it?

Choose a quiet moment, ask an open question, and listen without rushing. Let them know they can return to the conversation when they are ready.

Can studios participate?

Yes. Share the message with your team, discuss what inclusion looks like, and give dancers and families a clear way to ask for help.

SHARE THE MESSAGE

Help kindness travel beyond the studio.

Share the campaign and a positive action you are taking. Protect children’s privacy by leaving names and identifying details out of public stories.
